Taxiway Alpha at RLB International. EF Douglas and Associates were responsible for the design and project management for the rehabilitation of Taxiway Alpha. EF Douglas and Associates have worked with Dr. Mike McNerney. a renowned specialist in airfield pavements, professor in airport engineering and former Manager of FAA. He has served as Guest Lecturer and then Adjunct Lecturer at The University of Texas at Austin for nine years and three years at The University of Texas at Arlington. He taught courses in Pavement Design, Airport Design, Airport Operations, and Airport Engineering. He has also taught Continuing Education Short Courses for The University of Texas at Austin in several Airport topics including Airport Planning that has been taught in four different continents.
Dr. McNerney was Associate Vice President of AECOM transportation services for nine years where was responsible for pavement design, pavement evaluation, and development of the Geospatial Airport Pavement Evaluation and Management System (GAPEMS) for Airports. He was also responsible for Airport Planning and Evaluation studies including Master Plans for George Bush Intercontinental Airport and Fort Worth Meacham International Airport. He conducted pavement evaluations at many airports and developed pavement management systems at Denver International and Tampa International Airports.
Dr. McNerney was Manager of the Airport Engineering Division of the Federal Aviation Administration in headquarters Washington DC for 5 years. He supervised engineers and scientists for over 100 FAA Advisory Circulars about airport safety, standards, and construction. He also was the leader of the FAA Airports GIS Program and the implementation of geospatial aeronautical data.
